So because I profess to be a writer, I decided to post a random sample of my writing. Eventually I’ll get to explaining the title of this blog, but for now I wanted to post some of my real writing. So, this is an excerpt from a fairytale I’m writing, just for those interested in writing and fairytales. I also think that reading what others write helps me get out of a writers block, just a tip.
Background: Rose Red is Snow white’s sister. She has recieved news that Snow was killed by a bear in the woods, and she suspects that the queen had something to do with it and doesn’t even believe that her sister is really dead. The prince (visiting form his country) is the only one who knows her suspicion, but he doesn’t trust her, particularly because he has long suspected her of being jealous of both the queen and Snow. Noe he is about to return to his own kingdom and leave this crazy one behind, but Rose approaches him at the stables.
“You really are leaving then,” Rose stated with disappointment. The prince continued to saddle his horse.
“I have business in my own country,” he replied coldly.
Every time I read Snow-White and Rose-Red, I can’t help thinking that the Snow-White in that story is the mother of the Snow-White in the Snow-White and the Seven Dwarfs. It just fits.
And I always wonder why no one has written another story about Rose-Red. She is my favorite fairy tale character.
